Manjul Manjari | Team TrickyScribe: A police team was attacked by irate villagers of Ward Number 3 of Saraiya Panchayat under Pahadpur District police station of Motihari district. One person Anita Devi has been arrested so far.
A case has been registered against seven named and 10-15 unidentified assailants. Apparently fuming after the attack, Motihari SP has initiated departmental action against Paharpur SHO and has simultaneously constituted an SIT under Areraj SDPO.
That apart, bounty of ₹5000 has been announced on those involved and show causes has been issued to Areraj Circle Inspector and SDPO, Areraj for the lapse leading to the attack.
One cop Sonu Kumar received serious head injuries during the incident while a home guard Munna Paswan was reported injured too.
The incident unfolded when a police team visited the village Lipni Panchayat while investigating a case kidnapping of two girls from Bettiah.
Of these, one girl was recovered by the police and the team was in Saraiya Panchayat to cross check the leads she shared about her kidnappers.
Based upon the inputs of the girl recovered kidnapped girl, one person was arrested. The arrest triggered locals who then attacked to the police team with sticks and other construction related equipment. The sequence was recorded on camera.
