Team TrickyScribe: FIITJEE, the renowned coaching institute for competitive exams like JEE, has recently closed several of its centres in Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, leaving students and parents in uncertainty. Key branches in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar, Noida Sector 62, and Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, and Varanasi, along with centres in Mumbai’s Andheri, Kandivali, Thane, and Navi Mumbai, have been impacted.
Financial Crisis Triggers Staff Exodus and FIRs
The institute, operating 73 centres nationwide, has been grappling with a severe financial crisis. Mass resignations by staff members have exacerbated the situation. In Ghaziabad, the Raj Nagar branch was abruptly shut down following an FIR filed by parents who accused the institute of derailing students’ academic preparations. The closure coincides with the first phase of the JEE (Main) exams, which began on January 22.
Allegations of Unpaid Salaries and Unlicensed Operations
Parents have alleged non-payment of teacher salaries at multiple centres. Ghaziabad Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Srivastava confirmed the filing of an FIR, initiated by District School Inspector Dharmendra Sharma, who also highlighted that the Raj Nagar centres were operating without a proper license. Similar complaints have surfaced in Delhi, with cases filed at Preet Vihar and Kalu Sarai police stations.
Mumbai Centres Transition Online Amid Shutdowns
In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, three to four centres have ceased operations entirely. While the Andheri branch continues to function online with limited capacity, other centres were shut down in December following mass staff resignations.
A Legacy in Crisis: FIITJEE’s National Presence Shrinks
Founded in 1992, FIITJEE has a stronghold in 17 states, including Delhi, UP, Haryana, Karnataka, and Rajasthan. Known for charging over ₹90,000 for a one-year program in Delhi-NCR, its current financial woes raise concerns over its sustainability and impact on students nationwide.
