by Editor's Desk

Team TrickyScribe: Acting on a tip-off a joint team of military intelligence (MI) and the state police an international syndicate of Nepali nationals was unearthed in Patna’s Fatuha. Several fake documents including Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and driving licenses for the arrested Nepalese nationals, including students and educators.

The five arrested include Prakash Barsila, Niranjan Dhakal, Suklal Vishwakarma and Durga Bahadur who all served in the Nepalese army prior to their retirement. As the investigation unfolds, more revelations are likely to be made.

What intrigued the raiding team the most was that the arrested persons damaged their cellphones even as the raid was underway during night and that the raiding team recovered over 16 such broken and damaged smartphones in their morning search around the area.

Fake Documents and Suspected Espionage Activities

The investigation revealed a shocking nexus where operators and unqualified teachers at an institute in Fatuha were issuing fraudulent certificates. More than 250 Nepalese students were receiving education under unverified teachers. The institute’s activities raised suspicions of possible espionage, which is currently under military and police scrutiny.

Business Cover for Exploitation and Deception

The institute, reportedly run by Gangeshwar Singh, the currently absconding director of a premium fashion company, also brought in Nepalese children under the guise of business training. These children were allegedly exploited for financial scams. The extent of the network’s operations raises concerns about its impact on internal security.

Fake Address and Documents: A National Security Threat

Further investigation has revealed that retired personnel from the Nepal Army and Nepal Police may be involved in the fraudulent activities. The creation of fake addresses and documents poses significant risks, as these could potentially be used to execute larger crimes.

Ongoing Investigation and Potential Revelations

Bihar Police has initiated an in-depth probe into the institute’s operations, including interrogating teachers, students, and other involved individuals. Military Intelligence suspects that the institute could be a cover for espionage or other illegal activities, with significant findings expected to emerge.

A Call for Vigilance Against Document Fraud

The case highlights the growing threat of document fraud and its implications for national security with authorities  urging citizens to report any suspicious activities or misuse of identity documents.
