India to Host 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Jaipur

by Editor's Desk

Team TrickyScribe: India is set to host the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific from March 3-5, 2025, at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur. Themed “Realizing Circular Societies Towards Achieving SDGs and Carbon Neutrality in Asia-Pacific,” the forum aims to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, resource-efficient economy.

At the Curtain Raiser event in New Delhi, Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal highlighted India’s commitment to sustainability and revealed key details of the three-day global gathering.

A Global Confluence of Sustainability Leaders

The forum will bring together over 500 international and domestic participants, including government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability advocates. The agenda includes plenary sessions, country-specific discussions, theme-based roundtables, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering collaboration on the 3R principles—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

In addition, technical field visits to solid and liquid waste management facilities in Jaipur will provide delegates with practical insights into India’s waste-to-wealth initiatives. Participants will also explore Jaipur’s heritage sites, showcasing the city’s sustainable tourism model.

Showcasing India’s Leadership in Circular Economy

A dedicated ‘India Pavilion’ will spotlight the nation’s innovative 3R initiatives. Featuring exhibits from key ministries and national missions, the Pavilion will demonstrate India’s whole-of-government approach to circularity and sustainable development.

Interactive sessions will include:
• ‘Ministers & Ambassadors Roundtable Dialogue’
• ‘Mayors’ Dialogue’
• ‘Policy Dialogue’ on circular economy strategies
• Signing of agreements under the CITIIS 2.0 program

A compendium of over 100 best practices, compiled by the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), will also be launched, offering valuable insights into sustainable urban management.

Trade, Technology, and Entrepreneurship in Focus

A 3R Trade and Technology Exhibition will bring together 40+ businesses and start-ups from India and Japan, showcasing cutting-edge solutions and best practices in circular economy models.

Additionally, the forum will highlight waste-to-wealth initiatives by NGOs and self-help groups, promoting sustainability-driven entrepreneurship and community engagement.

Adopting the ‘Jaipur Declaration’ for a Sustainable Future

The forum will conclude with the adoption of the ‘Jaipur Declaration (2025-34),’ a voluntary framework to guide Asia-Pacific nations in transitioning from a linear ‘take-make-dispose’ economy to a circular economy. This builds on the Hanoi Declaration (2013-23) and will be handed over to the next host country.

A Global Platform for Circular Economy Policy and Collaboration

Launched by UNCRD in 2009, the Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum serves as a key policy advisory platform for governments across the Asia-Pacific region. The last edition was hosted by Cambodia in 2023, while India previously hosted the 8th edition in Indore in 2018.

The 2025 forum is spearheaded by India’s Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban in collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of the Environment, UN ESCAP, UNCRD, UNDSDG, and UNDESA, with support from the Government of Rajasthan.

With participation from 38 invited member countries, 15-line ministries of the Government of India, 60+ cities, 40+ start-ups, and 120+ speakers, the forum will serve as a catalyst for shaping future circular economy policies.

Join the Conversation – Virtually and On-Site

To ensure global reach and participation, the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum will also be open for virtual participation on all three days.

As India takes center stage in advancing the circular economy agenda, the forum promises to be a landmark event in the global movement towards sustainable development and carbon neutrality. Participants may attend the sessions online by registering here.
