Team TrickyScribe: Mortal remains of BSF Sub-Inspector Imtiaz, who made the supreme sacrifice during cross-border firing in Jammu’s RS Pura sector on May 10, 2025, were brought to Patna Airport on Monday morning. A solemn guard of honour was paid to the braveheart. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, Minister Shrawan Kumar, and Bihar BJP Chief Dilip Jaiswal were present to pay their respects.
Absence of Top State Leaders Raises Eyebrows
What drew sharp public criticism, however, was the conspicuous absence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha at the ceremony. Their absence was particularly striking, given that the Chief Minister’s official residence is located just a short distance from Patna Airport.
Adil Hasan, National Spokesperson for the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), questioned CM Nitish Kumar’s priorities, asking whether the martyr’s name was a reason for discomfort. “It’s unfortunate that the CM and his deputies chose to stay away from honouring a martyr,” Adil remarked!
Focus Elsewhere: Buddha Purnima Celebrations Take Priority
While the state mourned the loss of a valiant soldier, Nitish Kumar, along with his deputies and senior officials, chose to participate in Buddha Purnima celebrations at the Buddha Smriti Park. The Chief Minister offered prayers at the statues and sacred Bodhi trees, worshipped Buddha’s relics at the Pataliputra Karuna Stupa, and meditated for world peace and prosperity. The Vipassana Center’s facilities were also reviewed during the program.
Public Sentiment: Reverence for Martyrs Over Rituals?
The absence of Bihar’s top political leadership at the solemn ceremony for a fallen soldier has triggered strong reactions. Many have questioned whether ceremonial events should take precedence over paying respect to those who lay down their lives for the nation. As criticism mounts, the silence from the Chief Minister’s Office only amplifies public disappointment.
