Operation Sindoor: India’s Strike on Terror

by Editor's Desk

Team TrickyScribe: Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a meticulously planned operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The operation, which struck nine key terrorist sites, was a direct response to the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, where 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national were brutally killed.

Indian government provided detailed insights into the operation, reaffirming India’s commitment to combating terrorism while maintaining strategic restraint.

Key Details from the Press Conference

During the press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh elaborated on the objectives and execution of Operation Sindoors.

Misri confirmed that the operation was launched to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam attack, which was orchestrated by Pakistani and Pakistan-trained terrorists associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

He revealed that intelligence reports indicated impending attacks against India, compelling the nation to exercise its right to deter and prevent further violence. “Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent, led to India’s response earlier this morning,” Misri stated.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh emphasized the operation’s success, noting that nine terrorist camps linked to banned outfits, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, were targeted with precision strikes.

The operation reportedly eliminated top commanders of these groups and destroyed key infrastructure, including madrasas associated with Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar.

Sources indicate that 80-90 terrorists were killed, with significant blows dealt to terror hubs in Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad.

The government reiterated that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” with no Pakistani military facilities targeted.

Strategic & Diplomatic Context

The press conference highlighted India’s proactive diplomacy, with officials briefing counterparts in the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Russia on the operation to ensure transparency and maintain international support. The government underscored its commitment to eliminating terrorism in the supreme national interest, a sentiment echoed by political leaders across party lines.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde expressed strong support, with the latter stating, “Our entire country stands with the PM and Armed Forces who have given a terrorist state like Pakistan a befitting reply.”

The operation has heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), with Pakistan resorting to arbitrary firing and artillery shelling, resulting in the deaths of three civilians in Poonch, Kupwara, and Baramulla districts. Srinagar airport has been temporarily closed, and educational institutions in border areas have suspended operations, with Kashmir University postponing scheduled examinations.

Global Reactions & Regional Implications

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong statement confirming the Indian airstrikes and declaring an air emergency at major airports, including Islamabad and Karachi. Pakistan has denied involvement in the Pahalgam attack, with its Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi calling for a neutral investigation.

However, India’s government dismissed these claims, citing evidence of Pakistani complicity and emphasizing that the operation targeted only terrorist infrastructure. China, meanwhile, urged both nations to exercise restraint to preserve regional peace and stability.

India’s Resolute Stance

Operation Sindoor marks a significant escalation in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, signaling a shift toward preemptive action against cross-border threats. The press conference underscored India’s determination to hold perpetrators accountable while adhering to international norms.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, in a post on X, stated, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism. #OperationSindoor,” reflecting the national sentiment.

As India awaits further developments, Operation Sindoor stands as a living testament to its resolve to protect its citizens and uphold national security. The government’s measured approach, coupled with its diplomatic outreach, aims to balance decisive action with the pursuit of regional stability. The nation remains united in its fight against terrorism, with the armed forces earning widespread praise for their precision and bravery.
