Raxaul’s Never-Ending Traffic Woes: Even the Dead Can’t Pass in Peace

by Editor's Desk

Ganesh Kumar | Team TrickyScribe: Relentless traffic congestion in Raxaul, a crucial town linking Bihar with Nepal, continues to haunt residents—even after death. In a heartbreaking incident, a funeral procession remained stuck for hours in the chaotic traffic on Sunday, forcing the grieving family to struggle endlessly to move forward. The pallbearers, already burdened with grief, found themselves drenched in sweat, struggling to carry the deceased through the jam-packed streets.

A City Where Even Ambulances Struggle

Eyewitness Munesh Kumar, a daily commuter, described the situation as deeply distressing. “Earlier, Raxaul’s traffic jams proved fatal for patients stuck in ambulances. Now, even the dead cannot be taken for their final rites without immense difficulty,” he lamented.

A Market Visit Turned into a Nightmare

Savita Bhattarai, a woman from Birgunj, Nepal, who had come to Raxaul for shopping, was shocked by the scene. Expressing her anguish, she blamed local representatives and the traffic management system for the mess. “The congestion worsens due to the railway crossing being frequently shut. If there were a flyover, such distressing incidents wouldn’t occur,” she remarked.

Businessmen Hold Authorities Responsible

Local businessman Mahesh Agarwal pointed out that this was not just a traffic issue but a result of poor urban planning. He held the railway authorities responsible for the town’s infrastructural failure. “This isn’t just the funeral of a person—it symbolizes the demise of Raxaul’s governance and development,” he said, summing up the grim reality.

Administration’s Efforts Yet to Bear Fruit

Despite the ongoing efforts of Raxaul Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Shivakshi Dixit to ease traffic woes, the residents continue to suffer. The town’s struggle with chronic congestion highlights a dire need for infrastructure upgrades and better urban management. Until real solutions are implemented, Raxaul will remain a town where even the dead cannot pass without a fight.
