PM Modi to welcome UK into International Solar Alliance

The TrickyScribe: PM Narendra Damodardas Modi embarked on what is being counted as his 53rd foreign trip here on Monday, with a special focus on clean solar energy, digitization, health, innovation, skill development and smart cities.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit Sweden and the United Kingdom for bilateral meetings and for the India-Nordic Summit and Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting between Tuesday and Friday.

India-Nordic Summit

While addressing mediapersons in New Delhi prior to his Europe visit, PM Modi expressed his commitment to an open, inclusive and rule-based global order and said on Monday that he was personally invited by Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi looked forward to interacting with top business leaders of both the countries and to chart out a future roadmap of cooperation with the focus on trade and investment, innovation, skill development, smart cities, clean energy, digitization and health. Nordic competencies fit well with our vision for India’s transformation, the PM added.

It may be mentioned here that India and Sweden will jointly host ‘India-Nordic Summit’ in Stockholm on Tuesday with Prime Ministers of Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Nordic countries have globally recognized strengths in clean technologies, environmental solutions, ports modernization, cold-chains, skill development and innovation.

Ayurveda Centre of Excellence in London

Describing IndiaUK partnership as the one bound by strong historical ties, PM Modi will briefly interact with CEOs of the two nations who are working on a new agenda of economic partnership, launch Ayurveda Centre of Excellence in London and welcome the UK into the International Solar Alliance, as its newest member.

He said, “My visit to London presents another opportunity for both countries to infuse fresh momentum to this growing bilateral engagement. I will be focusing on enhancing IndiaUK partnership in the areas healthcare, innovation, digitization, electric mobility, clean energy and cybersecurity. Under the theme of “Living Bridge”, I will also have the opportunity to meet people from various walks of life who have enriched the multi-faceted India-UK relationship.”
